Whisker pole stowage option

Post by JD-MDR »

I want to get the pole off the deck and i don't want it on the stanchions. Here is how i put it. Im hoping for critiques. Ideally I would like a track and hardware on the mast. But I can spend any more. This might be too noisy. Maybe its not a good idea on the shrouds. If I have to I will put it back on the deck chocks I made. Problem is its under the kayak and to much trouble to access

I don't see why that won't work. I'd whip the hell out of that upper ring--for sure. I don't think that will hurt your lower turnbuckle but keep an eye on it. The pole is heavy. A better plan might be to go too another ring on a stanchion if it's in an area that will work. Or maybe bolt a whisker pole bracket to the deck and snap in there.

I may have an aluminum whisker pole deck bracket if you're interested. It's free.

I decided to stow it back on deck. I got too much negative feedback from the other forum. Anyway its not too hard to get out just a little problem putting it away under the kayak. I can always lash it to the stanchions temporarily if its too rough
