Here we go again

Re: Here we go again
Well... it doesn't look likely for Eta to spare us a bunch of rain, but IF the intensity forecast are more accurate, at least we shouldn't get more than lots of rain and a little higher surge.
As for Theta, at least that one "read my request" and appears to be staying offshore of everywhere!
However... it looks like the potential Iota could try to follow the path of Eta... What a season!

My dock master has "suggested" that I keep KAYLA in the h-hole for a bit longer;
since I moved her, all of the storms have eventually avoided us???

Re: Here we go again
Well Mike, it looks like you got your wish - Theta broke the record and Iota was/is just added grief.mgphl52 wrote:At this point, I'd actually be interested in seeing yet another named storm; just to break the 2005 record...
But, only if said "next storm" stays far offshore of *any* land!
Despite what is currently predicted for Iota's path we need only scroll up a few posts on this thread to see what was the projected path for Eta before she decided to do some "loop di loops" (technical meteorological term ) and head for Florida.
What a year

Re: Here we go again
As this chart clearly shows, Honduras and Nicaragua are going to be devastated by Category 5 (160 mph +) winds. Their infrastructures are some of the most vulnerable in Central America. Iota is going to demolish much of these two countries.
Those of us who own sailboats are fortunate to have the resources to purchase, maintain, upgrade, etc. our sailboats. If possible I would respectfully ask you to consider making a contribution to the charity of your choice that is (are) in the process of deploying to this area of Central America.
As you know, this region has now been hit with two major hurricanes this year - hurricane Eta and now Iota.
If you have your favorite charity please contact them. If not, Charity Navigator is a website that tries to identify the legit organizations from the scams.

I do not know his schedule or his availability but Celebrity chef Jose Andres has a well-documented record of providing hot meals to thousands and thousands of disaster victims across the globe. https://wck.org/
I have absolutely ZERO connection to any referenced charity or volunteer organization other than periodic personal donations.
Thank you.

This site collects all the data for the 2020 season. All anyone can really say is "it's been one helluva season" I, for one, hope we do not have another for a long, long time.

Yo, Roberto! Don't deplete your Guinness supply just yet...
I moved KAYLA from her hurricane hole back to the dock today.
She's been 'protecting' the panhandle since early October.
Who knows what might have been 'saved' if I'd put her in the hole before Sally hit us.
But I won't be surprised to see something pop up... pissed off, for sure but not surprised...
