DC electrical grounding

Post by Jim Stull »

Does anyone know if the CD 25 was supplied with a common ground system for the onboard electrics and/or some lightning protection?
My '75 has a plate bolted to the exterior of the keel and some sort of heavy wire/rod that can be felt by reaching thru the forward, overhead v-berth access holes. (I will check for possible electricial continuity between these points after this cold snap ends.)
Thanks
Jim

I think you will find the rod forward is copper tubing venting the fresh water tank.
I would also like some information on the grounding plate. Mine needs to be replaced this season as it is in bad shape.
Thanks,
Robert

Further investigation indicates you are right. Thats where the tube ends up.
Our old CD manual would lead one to believe that the 25's came with a grounding system from the factory. Not much detail though.
Thanks
Jim
