This bulletin board, hosted by the CDSOA, Inc., is the on-line meeting place for all Cape Dory owners and groups. We welcome everyone's questions, answers and comments about Cape Dory sailboat
The recent East Coast storm caused a boat to break its moorings and it drifted down on my 1980 CD27 Sine Qua Non. Suffice it to say the insurance company will take her because the cost to repair the damage will exceed her insurance value. I was going to sell her this winter anyway, after having owned and loved her for 15 years (since March 2000.) Time for me to give up ownership and bum an occasional sail with some very good sailing friends on their boats.
I've enjoyed all my years associated with the CDSOA, even though I haven't been on this board very much the past couple of years. Cape Dorys are incredible sailboats.
Bye now and good sailing in fair winds next season.

Sad news. Good luck in the future, always enjoyed your postings.......you never know, there may just be another Cape Dory in your future.
My sympathies on the loss of your Sine Qua Non. Hopefully, you will get the "Cape Dory itch" again and next Spring you will begin looking for another Cape Dory.
Your posts were ALWAYS very helpful to a newbie like me. I will always be especially grateful for your photos - very helpful.
I wish you fair winds and following seas Captain.
Fair winds,

Very sorry to hear of the loss of SQN. A bummer to end the sailing relationship that way. Good luck in the future and do keep sailing. If you are ever out western Lake Superior way, you're cordially invited for a sail aboard Femme du Nord.

Warren we are so sorry for your loss. We love our 27 and it hurts to hear that yours was destroyed by someone else's failure.
Please do not quit the board. We have always enjoyed your posts. With well over a 1000 you should qualify for permanent membership.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your boat. Even though you were already planning to sell her that is still a sad way to end a long association with a fine vessel. Maybe a Typhoon would fill your future needs. They are so much fun, quite low maintenance and can be trailered home for the winter.
Don't be a stranger Warren. Sounds like this mishap took the wind out of your sails literally and figuratively. I hope you'll receive lots of crew opportunities and will continue to post.
