How to attach boom to mast

Hi,
I'm a very seasoned boater but not necessarily a sailor (yet). I do know how to sail and sailed a lot as a teen.
Anyways, I was given a 1966 typhoon that had been sitting in a friend's driveway for 20 years since
he took it out of the water. I had to replace the floor because it was rotten. I have redone all the wood
and it looks great, but I can't figure out how to attach the boom to the mast.

The end of the boom looks has a piece that looks like it would side on a 1/4" rod but I don't see any such piece in the mast. The boom also has a stainless horseshoe shaped connector attached that is about 2". This is the type of connector that you would see on mooring chain either to connect to the mooring on the bottom of the chain or to the rope when the chain
comes through the mooring ball. Obviously it is much smaller.

I'm completely stumpted as to how to connect the boom. If anyone can provide some guidance that would be
a big help. Thank you.

I'll be putting the boat in the Sandwich Marina on Cape Cod. It's at the East end of the Cape Cod Canal.

Any chance you could post a picture?

My boom has a stainless slug that fits in the sail slot on the mast.

Sounds like you have a piece missing. If I recall correctly, the 1/4" fitting should receive a pin and serve as the pivot point. The piece coming out of boom is likely a square rod. The missing piece would have a collar that fits over rod in mast to receive pivot pin and on other end a slug or partial rod that fits mainsail track on mast.

A picture would help, especially for ring.

Also, sail stops are handy to put in above and below that cylinder that goes inside the mast. The stops keep the sleds on the sail from popping out, and also keep boom from jumping out of the hole where you inserted the cylinder.

Cathy, thanks for that link. For all the searching I've done on RigRite, I've never managed to see that page! Everything in one place is terrific.
