Okay, I need some help.I'm totally at sea (pun?) with this talk about cutting a slot or notch in the cuddy roof behind the mast.

I'm trying to visualize the purpose of the slot. What are the dimensions of the cut? How does it aid stepping or unstepping the mast?

A picture or two would help my inquiring mind a lot.

I envision it as being a way to raise the mast by letting the end rest on the cockpit floor making it easier to pivot into place. Without the notch, one has to also lift the mast another 2 feet vertically and drop it into the hole (which requires a gin pole, cherry picker, or Popeye sized forearms :) )

BTW we are talking Daysailers here, not the Weekender.

Hi Matt,

From what I gather, they are talking about the Ty Daysailer, type "K". I believe that it has an open cockpit with a small open cuddy cabin for storage.

Thanks Matt-
It is a 1979 cuddy Daysailer. I confused the hull number with my 1981 Sabre 30 which is hull#79.
I'm not at home right now and will have to get back to you with the Hull number for the Ty.

LOL. Now that you mention it, I now see that Magic Carpet was already on the list. Silly me:)

Keith Wood - Any information that you can provide on Daysailer hull #88 would be appreciated, particularly the year since we have a notable gap in Hull # data between #69 (1981) and #107 (1983). I'd like to add yours to the list.
