Backing plate replacement

Re: Backing plate replacement
Any fabricator can make them. CD in later years switched to using aluminium rather then mild steel, in your shoes I would consider doing that as well when you replace.

Re: Backing plate replacement
Doug,
I replaced mine with 3/16" SS.

The original mild steel ones came out in pieces due to serious rust.
Made a plywood model after much cutting and fitting, then found the holes by marking with an awl.
Had a machine shop reproduce the model in SS.
There was a lot of fiberglass to remove to gain access.

Hint: get a flexible wand to recover dropped tools.

Dick:
Did you remove the mast for the replacement project?
Thanks
