Engine hours always include motor-sailing hours ...
So maybe fuel consumption at 2250 rpm while motor-sailing is ~30% of fuel consumption at the same rpms unaided by sails? This is the only explanation I can come up with ... I know my engine hours and total fuel consumption data are good and by the time I need to run the engine under sail, I am always at 2000rpm at least. (by my tach)
Does this make sense to the 1 gal/hr crew?
Anyway, I'm glad I'm not paying for theoretical consumption!

11.5 kts for my CD33 LaVida

Although, I must admit I was being flushed out of the St. Lawrence by a 13' tide!
Seriously, LaVida matches Paul's performance with an Volvo MD2030 running at 2150 rpm.
