Rocna 44 on CD36
I put the Rocna 44 on STARVIEW's bowsprit this afternoon. It fits the roller perfectly. The locking pin sits forward of the "hockey stick" bend in the Rocna's shank preventing the anchor from falling back into the drink. I will install the Spartan anchor shaft bracket to control the shank, after I measure the height of the shank near the shackle.
There are two caveats: 1) I added the Spartan R610S (anchor roller w/lock pin) last fall, this roller differs from the R610S on RESPITE CD330. The new roller has a "V" groove in the center of the bronze roller. The older model had a smooth parabolic cross section, this is the item shown in the Spartan catalog. The depth of the groove may be significant in accommodating the height of the Rocna's shank. 2) In order to mount the R610S I had to extend the bowsprit a few inches due to a conflict with the pulpit's mounting.
Be careful.

RE: Rocna on CD 36
Mitchell, Philip and Sharon,
Many thanks for the feedback. Is there any problem with either size Rocna (44 lb or 55 lb) contacting the bobstay?
Thanks,
Warren

I can only comment on the Rocna 44, with the caveat that I extended my bowsprit nearly 3" before mounting the anchor roller. There is no conflict with STARVIEW's bobstay.
Download the Rocna template for a fairly close estimate of fit. http://www.rocna.com/product-range/boat-fit/.

Pictures?
Any chance you got some pictures? I'd love to see how it fits in the Spartan setup.M. R. Bober wrote:I put the Rocna 44 on STARVIEW's bowsprit this afternoon. It fits the roller perfectly. Anchor conflicting with bobstay
On our CD36 there is not even a remote chance of the Rocna anchor conflicting with the bobstay regardless of which roller we use (Windline or Spartan).
We also had one of the Spartan anchor shaft securing devices (which worked very well) but had to remove it when we installed the windlass because it was in the line of pull to the windlass.
If anyone needs photos just send your email address ---- I don't seem to be able to figure out how to attach photos to the "PM" responses.

Size
It has been pointed out that I was not clear regarding the size of anchor that we have on our CD36 ---- It is a 55 Pound Rocna.
Some good references regarding anchoring are:
"How To Sail Around The World" by Hal Roth
"The Complete Book of Anchoring and Mooring" by Earl Hinz
and any of the numerous web sites established by high latitude cruisers.
Best wishes,

Evergreen's Rocna photos
Evergreen kindly allowed me to post their photos of the Rocna 25 (55lb) anchor on a CD 36. A grand anchor it be.

A few final notations
John - thanks for posting the photos.
The anchor weight is 55 pounds. We personally would never go back to a smaller anchor for cruising. We like to sleep well at night.
One has to realize that in 30 feet of water you are pulling up about 30 pounds of chain, plus a 55 pound anchor, plus the mud that tends to come along with it (and Rocna anchor often come up with a scoop of mud - I think that is one of the reasons why they work so well). So that makes a minimum of 85 - 90 pounds that you are pulling up in thirty feet of water.
The previously posted photos taken from in front of the boat, make the anchor look bigger than it actually is due to perspective.
