Financially, I rent my downtown parking spot for more than it costs me to "moor and store" the boat. That means now I get free year-round boat storage. On top of that, the money I used to spend operating the car is now an ongoing source of boat bucks, beer money, and other higher priority 'lifestyle' expenses.

It takes 60-90 minutes, which is probably 15-20 minutes longer than using the car. It also takes a bit of planning in the spring and fall, but I feel like it's worth it.
The point was to simplify life, not to be an eco-freako, but I must admit I like things better this way.
