Recommendations for Depth Gage/Transducer Replacement

My old (original?) DMI depth gauge is no longer visible in any light and I want to replace/upgrade it.

Any favorites out there that fit into the DMI 4" (?) opening?

What about the transducer - is the thru-hull copening compatible with anything else on the market?

I just replaced the Data Marine instruments on STARVIEW with Raymarine ST60s. They fit the 4" holes. If you are interested in my old instrument head, which may or may not work--the problem may have been in the transducer--I will give it to you.

As was discussed here a few weeks ago another option is Moor Electronics. I just replaced the Standard Horizon D45 with one of their units. Fit the existing 4" hole . They have a few transducer options, I have a 3/4"
hole with a fairing block, the long stem bronze transducer worked out just fine.

I recently installed the Raymarine bi-data 40 digital read-out display unit on my bulkead and their Depth/Speed/Temp Transducer DST800P-A with their bronze thru-hull fitting. I liked that I only used one hull penetration for all three functions and it turns out this transducer has a wider dead hull rise spread than the others allowing it to compensate for the hull shape without a fairing block.

The tri-ducer replaced the existing paddle wheel speed unit that was located in the floor area of the hanging locker. I replaced the plastic housing with the new bronze thru hull fitting. The tri-ducer comes with a plug so it can be removed from the inside of the boat when the boat is afloat. My boat had two large, round Kenyon depth and speed instruments in the bulkhead that were non-functional. I removed them, glassed over the holes and then drilled a new smaller hole for the bi-data 40 digital head. The tri-ducer wiring runs under the stbd settee and the power comes from the panel. I also removed the old depth tansducer that was bonded to the inside of the hull, located on the stbd side of the engine. The new unit works great, gives trip info, water temp, is easily calibrated, and is a much simpler/cleaner installation.
