Thank you Zeida. Tuesday we traveled from Cocoa Beach to Daytona, a beautiful ride thru the northern indian river and then the Mosquito lagoon (very near the ocean and many sand islands and scrub brush). Anchored southeast of the Memorial bridge in a very quiet calm spot.
Up at 7am on Wed and off to St Augustine. Northern Fla along here is beginning to look a biy remote, waterway very winding, marshland all around, and must pay close attention to the charts and the GPS. Learned this the hard way just North of the Matanzas inlet in a very shoaly and confusing curve in the waterway. The markers had been moved to define a new channel, but the old markers were still there too, while trying to figure it out we went "BUMP" :cry and were hard aground for about an hour waiting for the tide to come in, then off again.
Now in St Augustine anchored south of the Bridge of Lions, Thursday morning, we were going to make for the border today, but alas, there is a heavy wind advisory out all day and some tricky navigation to be done around the inlet, so we decided to make this a playday in St Augustine, as well as refuel, waterup and provision.
