Vang for a Cape Dory Typhoon
I have a 1976 Typhoon.I was wondering if it will be possible to install a Vang.I am looking for idea's

Easy to make for a Ty!
Hi Vincent,
I made one up for my Ty years ago with a couple of Harken triple Bullet blocks. I also left lots and lots of tail on the line. The vang could then be used to easily raise and lower the mast single-handed even in the water. Just attach the vang between the jib halyard and jib tack shackle. Then cleat off the halyard. Now you can stand in the cockpit and bring the mast back by easing out on the vang. Stepping is just the same in reverse. When you do step it alone, you'll realize why I used triple blocks!
