Galley pump priming?

The water tanks on my CD33 ran dry. So I filled them. But when I turned on the pump and the galley faucet, the water just spit out a little bit. I could see the pump running but it did not seem to be pulling the water up. Do I need to prime the pump? Or, might it be that the pump is bad? I switched to all 3 different tanks with the same result.

Faucets opened? I have no idea but I have never primed my pump. It is hard to pump air so this might help. Good luck, Steve.
