The seacock on the "head" discharge thru hull of our CD28FBC needs cleaning and greasing but neither heat nor oil will free it. How can I get it free and out?

Assuming you can't reach the barrel end to tap it vigorously, remove the handle and place a wrench in its place and then whack the wrench with a hammer to loosen. Do not hit the handle, since the metal is soft and distorts easily. The seacock on the "head" discharge thru hull of our CD28FBC needs cleaning and greasing but neither heat nor oil will free it. Had a similar problem on the cockpit drains of Parfait. Nothing would break them loose, including the hammering previously recommended here. Turned out that the oysters had decided it would be a good place to set up housekeeping. Previous owner graciously paid to have yard correct problem. Lesson: use those seacocks often, don't let the oysters take over.
