Typhoon Mast pin/hole question
On the base of my Typhoon Weekender mast, the stainless steel pin has worn the aluminum mast hole. One side is worse than the other, see images. I was planning on JB welding SS fender washers on either side of the mast to reinforce the pin. My question is what shape was the hole originally? It looks...

Re: Cape Dory Typhoon wkndr
Seems like my repair worked well enough. I used a 60 mls catheter tipped syringe, and injected the scew holes which were previously drilled out larger, starting with the aft screw holes in order to not create air pockets (boat is bow high on the trailer). The tape I used to dam up the epoxy held fai...

Re: Cape Dory Typhoon wkndr
A used, new to me, traveler setup came to me in the mail today. I had to hunt down multiple sellers and I wasnt certain everything was compatible, but everything fits together perfectly. I am excited. The plan is to place it where it lays in the photo and move the cleat out of the way. Has anybody d...

Does a roller furler complicate mast raising and lowering?
I am trying to decide whether or not to add a roller furler system to a Cape Dory Typhoon. I am wondering if it complicates raising and lowering the mast as I will be trailering the boat without a slip.
I'm guessing that it would only complicate the process, but to what degree?

Re: Cape Dory Typhoon wkndr
You all convinced me, I bought the boat! Cape Dory Ty wkndr Hull #1679 My wife tells me that the mast will need to be replaced before I taker her far offshore, I'm suspicious of that. She actually has the most competitive sailing experience which included a run for the US Olympic team. There is very...

Ahoy, I have been window shopping for a sailboat for decades and finally found a prospective boat. I am after an affordable, easily trailer able sail boat for overnights and day sails around Monterey peninsula, the Channel islands, and Baja California. I would likely be day sailing with my 8 yo daug...
