I've found 79 CD25 at a VERY reasonable price ( ahve not seen the interior yet) but the LAST reasonable boat I looked at had the interior gutted and had no idea where to start. THE ...

Overdrive
Overdrive is like granny gears on a bike. Light weight and makes for easy engine trans speed match. Too light for towing. Epceially in hilly terain.

Cable run
The best suggestion is to run your cable and THEN put the connector on that goes to the radio. Everytime you splice (ie use a barrel connector) there is going to be some signal loss. ANd if there is an emergency, you wat ALL the signal you can get soming our of your antenna. Look around where you bo...

Optical stabilization
As a photographer who LOVES shooting sailboats, I haev had the same experience with camera lenses. With a steady hand, you might be able to get a sharp shot with a 150mm to 200 mm lens. After that, you need a tripod. I bit the bullet and purchased an optically stabilized 80-400mm lens and what a dif...

Don't
Coming from a ham, don;t mess with the innards on a 706. Or any ham radio for that matter. They are NOT type accepted to work outside the ham bands, and if you get into trouble, they may not work at all.

Battery Voltage
Remember, a battery tested without a load applied will read high. 16 is a bit excessive,a dnI'd be suspect of the volt meter. Take the battery to an auto part store and they with check and cycle the battery for free.

Blast them off
Item 1 PB Blaster. Get it at any auto store. Works way better than WD40. Item 2. While you are there, ask about their tool loaner program. You can get the use of a torque wrench for free. They charge a deposit and when to tool is returned in good working order, you get your deposit back. If you dont...
