the year the boat was built will probably come into the picture here. even though it has so much new and updated equipment.

i'm thinking the same thing. don't try to remove the old varnish unless there's no other way. etch the sole with fine sandpaper and put a couple of fresh coats on. one way to fill up bad dings is with clear epoxy.

kneeling in front of the engine looks very familiar. I have a small stool that is very handy for that. it also helps petite people to climb up to the V berth.

yes the 30 is tied into a steel structure but it is not glassed into the hull. it is behind the settee and has no corrosion problems.

the 30 mkII chainplates are also bronze on deck .. thru bolted to ss rods anchored to structural hardware.

I have some that are worse than that.

is this the one that sits on top of the fuel tank? take it out and clean it .. mine had all sorts of goop on it.

I believe I would buy another boat than cut a hole in the cockpit floor. That being said .. I'm pretty sure that pacific seacraft and island packet have done it.

You would probably need help with the installation. But .. there is a product you might consider named the CDI flexible furler .. it is a bit easier to install and less intrusive. Your hank on jib would need to be converted or just buy a new one.

the lack of a keel stepped mast might throw some off. i think they should have carried the beam further aft. but the fit and finish of these boats was excellent.

there is also a good book out there .. Seloc Yanmar Inboards. highly recommended.

for a very serious journey i would consider the cape george 36 as well.
