Re: Genoa Block Sheave Replacement.
Fritz I used item Defender item #609270 for the jib track car. I felt like it would be stronger than the Schaefer slide and also easier to attach the new block to it.. With this set up, there would be no spring to hold the block upright which was not important to me. I no longer have the old Schaefe...

Fritz
I need to correct the Defender item number that I posted to you last night. This morning I was on my boat and notice that my jib sheet blocks are the Lewmar ones with the toggle. That would be Defender part #615624.

Re: Genoa Block Sheave Replacement.
Fritz, I used the first block you listed, item #615623. In order to use this block I had to replace the old Schaffer jib track car. In my case the light weight block and the Schaffer car were all one component and as I recall the Lewmar block would not fit on the Schaffer car. I have been well pleas...

Re: Genoa Block Sheave Replacement.
Fritz, In the last 5 years I've had to replace the sheaves twice on the Schaeffer jib sheet blocks. After consulting with Schaeffer, we decided the blocks that they offered for the 3/4" track were too light weight for the loads on the working jib on my CD26. My solution was to replace the slide...

Re: SB8 Engine Oil Problem
Jneely, Your post reminded me of an oil pressure problem that I had many years ago. My boat had a Westerbeke engine with less than 50 hours on it. Sunday morning in preparation to getting up the anchor, I fired up the diesel and quickly discovered that I had no oil pressure. There was plenty of oil ...

Re: CD26 jib lead track size
Ken,
Thank you for your suggestion of adding an additional track. Did you through bolt the track or just screwed it to the toe rail?
I'm also considering changing from the stand up block/slider to a slider with a bail and then adding an alum sheave blocks.
FYI, my jib is 100% of fore triangle.

CD26 jib lead track size
On my 26, the jib sheet track has a 3/4" x 1/8" profile. The jib sheet block that I have been using with this track is a Schaefer spring loaded stand up block with Delrin sheaves. Three years ago I had the sheaves replaced and now the sheaves have broken again. I am thinking that this syst...

Re: jib lead block sheaves
Jim,
Thank you for your response.
The blocks have been returned to the mfg. and I am waiting to see what action they take--hopefully a no charge replacement of the sheaves. I did not disclose the name of the manufacturer on purpose but they are well known and reputable.

jib lead block sheaves
In 2018 and again this month I have had to replace broken sheaves in both port and starboard jib lead blocks. The manufacturer of the blocks confirmed that I am using the proper size blocks for my working jib and also said that my problem was very unusual.Over the last three years I have day sailed ...

Re: I Need a Bag
Tartan Sailor, I sail a CD26 and understand your dilemma with getting the foot of your outboard out of the water. I have tried bags and had problems with getting the bag around the foot of the motor and then removing the bag when I wanted to use the motor. My solution was to use a small block and ta...

shaft length for outboard on CD26
What is the recommended shaft length for the outboard motor on a CD26? I am considering replacing my tohatsu which has a 27" shaft with a Yamaha 9.9 which has a 20" shaft. The 20" shaft will place the cavitation plate approx 1.5" below the water surface. Thank you for your though...
