Metal sides on Typhoon rudder
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking at, but there has been a problem (you'll find posts on this board) with some Typhoon rudders getting some separation between the fiberglass rudder and the bronze rod. You might be seeing a repair made to that. That happened to my Typhoon, and I purchased a...

JSI in St. Pete, or Sailorman in Ft. Lauderdale
I'm not sure what part of Florida you're in, but I've used both of these: JSI Sailing in St. Pete (http://www.newjsi.com/) has a huge rigging shop. I used them to replace all the standing rigging on my Typhoon. They're very reputable. If you're in south Florida, you should check out Sailorman in Ft....
Is this what you were looking at on the Rig Rite site , at the bottom of the linked page (Part # SP-302)? This is the same Spreader Base that I have on my mast. Does yours differ from this one? Bob, Yes and no: m...

Got it welded this morning!
I got my spreader base rewelded this morning, thank goodness. They were able to TIG weld the stainless rod back to the stainless base. The welder said it will break somewhere else before that joint gives way. Cost $10 and took 10 minutes. What a relief. I still can't get the stub loose from the spre...

Help! -- Typhoon spreader base broken
Yesterday I was getting ready to launch my 1971 Typhoon, which I've been restoring for (too many) years, and as I was tying down the mast to drive to the boat ramp, I noticed that one of my spreaders had broken off at the base. Talk about disappointment! I've searched all previous posts about Typhoo...

Typhoon question: Coaming cleats screwed or bolted through?
I have a '71 Typhoon that I'm restoring after (too) many years out of the water. I have a question about the jib cleats that are attached to the outboard side of the coaming boards. Mine are aluminum horn cleats, and not the 90 degree angled ones. Are these cleats supposed to be just screwed into th...
