Re: Help me ID a previous wind vane
I just went out and took a look at the Monitor brackets on Raven (CD-30). What you had was definitely not a Monitor. The bracket bases do not have rounded corners like the outlines you show. They are also set at an angle because they support diagonal braces. The bolt holes are 3" apart and the...

Help me ID a previous wind vane
Hello CD lovers,
I have existing holes for a previous wind vane and would like to get help identifying which one it was that way I can avoid drilling new holes on the boat. Attached are picture of the measurements of the existing holes.
Might be a long shot but I figured might as well try.

Cannabis and seasickness - What we know now.
Did a little bit of reading about how to deal with seasickness, nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms. And levels of endocannabinoids, and their corresponding drop during the acute phase of the motion sickness is being pointed out as a cause. I touched a little about it here.

Re: Rebuilding the Volvo MD7A, Part II
Zek Excellent work. Very nice documentation. As good as anything on Adventure Rider. Thank you. It's just the beginning. The bigger task is prepping to jump into the puddle and cross oceans. It's a lifelong journey I'm just grateful I got into sailing while I still can enjoy it for many years God-w...

Rebuilding the Volvo MD7A, Part II
This is the final installment of my Volvo MD7A rebuild write up. I've been starting it up daily for 3 days now so far, plan to keep running her an hour every day just to break her in.

Re: Persistence and Determination to Change Your Circumstanc
Zekmeister, Happy to hear you’re inspired. That feels good. If the drive is strong enough for you to overcome all the challenges, hurtles, difficulties, and those damn naysayers it will one day be worth it. We beat back from Culebra yesterday against the trades. We got smashed for a while with a 30...

Re: Rebuilding the Volvo MD7A
Thanks for posting Zekmeister. Fortunatley my MD-7A is running great. The surveyor seemed to think the hour meter was correct with only 400. It seems unlikely for a 40 yr. old boat but the rest of the boat shows little use as well. I mean there was corrosion and rotten canvass but that's for sittin...

Re: Rebuilding the Volvo MD7A
You may have your reasons and they may be good reasons, but I would recommend against rebuilding. I worked with my MD7B and while it ran reliably up to the end, it was a never ending source of problems. Oil leaks, water leaks, fuel leak, overheating, broken head stud, injector pump leak, you name i...

Rebuilding the Volvo MD7A
In my continuing efforts to finish rebuilding the Cape Dory 30, I tackle the sticky inboard rebuild. In my case it's the Volvo MD7A. With parts not being made, it's a challenge finding them but in my experience but for the most part a thorough online and offline searching yielded me results. Check o...

Trucking a Cape Dory 30
I am writing a journal of the journeys of the Cape Dory 30, SV The Kestrel. On this post, I write about how we trucked her 635 miles from Redding, CA to Temecula, CA. http://www.marineworldclassifieds.net/index.php/2019/03/09/trucking-her-home/ Anyone planning to do this, I can definitely answer que...

You are an inspiration. I'm slowly working to follow my dreams as well. What you've achieved puts a face to my own dreams and aspiration to becoming waterborne.
