Yes I just closed the sale. It was with mixed feelings but Criss Cross has gone to someone who I think will be good for her.

I have decided that due to a lack of time to enjoy a great boat I'm putting her up for sale so someone else might have the chance to enjoy sailing her. She is brokered through Brewer's in Greenport, NY. if you follow this link you can see pictures and more information. http://www.breweryacht.com/boa...

Re: Refinishing bulkheads on a CD28
Wow they look great. What grit sandpaper did you use and what did you clean with? What year is your CD? Looking at your sink where I have a hanging locker on my 1978.

Refinishing bulkheads on a CD28
I know the finish on the bulkhead is not real wood so sanding and varnish are out I guess. Any ideas on how best to clean this up? Its not too bad but are showing their age and have a few small holes I'd like to fill.
Thanks for any advice.

Peaceful day in New Suffolk
Summer may be over but the fall is some of the best sailing. I plan on staying in until Thanksgiving.

Re: Advice on how to get at the back of deck fittings on a C
Do you know if he used a snap to attach the fabric to the top and bottom or is it a screw and grommet ? Are you thinking of using a batten along that top and bottom edge?

Re: Advice on how to get at the back of deck fittings on a C
Thanks for the tip. I just looked at that post and it's perfect. I had thought about trimming that liner but didn't have a good solution to finish it after.... Now I do.

Re: Solution to underneath side deck access
Thanks for a great idea. I've got a 28 also and have considered trimming the liner too but hadn't come up with a good solution to finish it off........ Until now. Your 28 is very nice from the pictures of the cabin. Not sure if you sold or still have her but you've done a nice job.

I will take your advice and I did cut an access port to get a good look at the chain plates.

Re: Advice on how to get at the back of deck fittings on a C
Sounds like you've been down that road. The mirror should help, good idea. Do you have any ideas about the chain plates ? Mine show some flaking on the steel backing plate. There is still a lot of material there and the bolts are tight. What I seem to see is that many people have gone to external ch...

Advice on how to get at the back of deck fittings on a CD28
I have to re-bed the deck fittings on my 1978 CD28 and the liner in the cabin restricts access to the backs as well as the chain plates. I'm sure others have had this problem and any advice would be welcome.

28 foot, 1978 Cape Dory for sale.
I am selling my 1978 28 foot Cape Dory, hull #188. The Volvo diesel was pulled out and taken to Hansen Marine in Marblehead MASS and was gone over and cleaned up last year. The fuel tank was also removed, steam cleaned and pressure tested. The main and head sails are Doyle sails and in great conditi...
