Re: Any CPAP sailors out there?
I have used a CPAP for years on the sailboat. I purchased a 12v adaptor to run the Respironics CPAP machine. I have a battery monitor on the boat and the machine draws about .3 A to .9 A depending on when it ramps up when you take a breath. So less than 10 ah for a night. I used to carry a small gel...

Re: Engine compartment vent hose - 25D
I just noticed that you have a CD28. I have a CD25D. I am not sure if the installation would be the same. I picked up the 25D from the original post.

Re: Engine compartment vent hose - 25D
I just replaced my cowl vents and hose this Spring. Parts are as follows: -Shields 420, 3" Black HD Vinyl Blower Hose (28') -Seadog 727130-3 Low Profile Vent - 3" I had a bit of hose left over but not much. I ran the hose to the aft facing vent high due to heat rising. I ran the forward fa...

Re: CD 25D Sink Drain in Head
Thanks for the input. Such a great forum. I think the simplest way to go is to put in another seacock. I thought about the seperate sump with bilge pump but it is another maintenance item and would need power run and an additional through hull anyway. I looked up the Spartan 3/4" seacock. Almos...

CD 25D Sink Drain in Head
Has anyone modified their boat so the sink in the head does not drain into the bilge? I don't really like filling the bilge with soapy grey water.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Composite Mast for a 25D?
I don't know anything about a composite mast but I have modified my 25D to step the mast with a gin pole. I installed a hinged mast step and use 10' gin pole with a small winch. I have raised the stock mast a few times now in total control. One person can do it but two are better. One to help steady...

Re: Trailer for 25D
Hi John,
I have a 2011 Triad float off trailer that came with my 25D. I can take some pics and come up with some measurements if you want. It might take a couple of days if you don't mind waiting.

Re: Smoke in exaust
I have been concerned about the same issue on the 1GM10 in my boat. It only has about 80 hours and I get white wispy smoke as well. I chocked it up to steam from the warm water but there is also a burnt oil smell. The engine is not going through oil so I am wondering if old fuel might have something...

Re: rusty chain plate Backing Plate-pre-cruise question - CD
Just a quick check shows stainless has about twice the yield strength and slightly higher ultimate tensile strength. Either one should work fine especially for the short duration. My thoughts were that the stainless was stiffer so you could get away with thinner material and still spread the load fr...

Re: rusty chain plate Backing Plate-pre-cruise question - CD
It looks like you have lots of fastener length. What about temporarily placing a piece of stainless right over the corroded steel angle for the season. I say stainless since it is stronger than mild steel and you could get away with using thinner material. Maybe use a piece of angle or has some flat...

Re: New Head Install ???
They look like inserts to be installed in a blind hole with epoxy. We use them in the aircraft industry and they are called "potted inserts". The rings near the bottom of the insert stop it from pulling out and the knurled part at the top stop it from spinning in the hole. You would use th...

Re: Yanmar 1GM10 Impeller
Thanks for the good discussion guys. An additional point I didn't put in my original post: -When I removed the impeller cover and saw that the impeller fingers were pointing the wrong way I grabbed the manual starting crank, actuated the decompression lever and turned the engine over. Sure enough th...

Re: Yanmar 1GM10 Impeller
Thanks Joe, I did check to make sure the centre bushing was still bonded. I have a spare in case. I just received my Speedseal kit in the mail about a week ago. Nicely built parts. Ironically I went to install the cover kit the day before the overheating episode and the thumb screws were too long to...

Yanmar 1GM10 Impeller
Has anyone experienced overheating on a 1GM10 due to the impeller vanes "flipping" on shutdown. I had just operated the engine for over 2 hours at higher RPM due to rough weather and everything worked perfect. I shut the engine down at the waste pumpout dock and after start up the engine o...
