Re: Cape Dory 25D for Sale
No offense taken. I'm just happy that everyone thinks this is a great buy! :) She's been a great boat and I'd like to see her go to a good owner. I also realized I forgot to include my email address in case anyone wants to contact me. It's jkfogs@gmail.com . Thanks again everyone for all the positiv...

Re: removing throttle control cable yanmar 1gm
OK I tried removing the cotter pin and successfully unhinged it from the engine but the bolt on the cable is still tightly fitted against the circular sleeve so I can't remove the cable from the sleeve. I tried removing the cable from the throttle end too but no luck either.

removing throttle control cable yanmar 1gm
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how to disconnect the throttle cable on my yanmar 1gm in order to replace it because it's hardened. If you look at the attached photo, I tried twisting the bolt on the cable but I couldn't pull the cable out even after giving it a few turns. I also tried turning the ...

length of throttle cable on cape dory 25d
Do any fellow cape dory 25d owners know how long the throttle cable is? I need to replace it and would prefer to have the new one in hand before I remove the old one. Thanks!

Re: Suggestions for problems with unvarnished, exterior teak
Thanks guys. I hadn't been doing anything to the teak figuring it would just take care of itself. This worked fine until just recently when the teak started showing stains and was turning a little black. It definitely looks worse after my first attempt at cleaning it but what I think I'll try is cle...

Suggestions for problems with unvarnished, exterior teak
Hi everyone, The teak on my boat is unvarnished and has gone gray. It's been getting a bit dirty of late with black spots, dirt, or stains here and there, so I decided I would clean it. I used a solution of liquid detergent, bleach, and TSP (accidentally used about 3-4 times more TSP than I should h...

Re: Dorade Vent Hoses for Cape Dory 25D
Thanks everyone for the great tips. Thanks Steve especially for explaining how the hoses are set up on your boat. And yes lol I'll concur with your opinion on the West Marine person. Once I was quoted a price of $27 a foot to buy the hose, I politely excused myself and said I'd think about it... I t...

Dorade Vent Hoses for Cape Dory 25D
Hi everyone, I have two Dorade vents installed on the transom of my Cape Dory 25D, for the purpose of aerating the engine, but no hoses to connect to the vents. As a safety precaution, I've been leaving the engine cover off while motoring in order to make sure the engine gets enough air. But I'd lik...

Re: wood coming apart on back rest
Jim you're right it is on the non visible part of the back rest. I should have glued it when it first started delaminating but too late for that now. At least as you said it's out of sight . Paul, thanks so much for the helpful info, I'll use your advice to prevent any further delamination.

wood coming apart on back rest
Thanks again everyone for all the great advice on the bilge pump. I was hoping I could get some further advice on my starboard side back rest. As you can see, the teak veneer has partially delaminated from the wood underneath (this was due to condensation). Is there any way to fix this or am I stuck...

Re: Whale bilge pump on CD 25D
Hi all, Thank you so much for all these helpful and informative replies. What I decided to do was just replace the diaphragm that had a tear in it. It took some time to figure out how to do it and then to actually replace it with the tight space in there but its done and now it works! Thanks again e...

Whale bilge pump on CD 25D
Hi all, I recently bought a Cape Dory 25D and was hoping someone could shed some light on how to remove the diaphragm for the bilge pump. The diaphragm on mine broke and I ordered a rebuild kit, but I'm not sure how to remove the old one. From the cockpit, I see four screws holding a plate that guar...
