22D Anchor/Deck/Steaming Light Bulb Types & Fixture
FINALLY found complete details on this mast light, currently available from rigrite.com. LED replacements are available for both bulbs. They also offer a complete mast and hardware replacement for all Spartan masts.Hopefully this will help others avoid the lengthy search I've endured. CD-3 Bow/Fored...

1984 22D Anchor/Deck Light Bulb Type
I'm about 1500 miles away from the mast right now, but want to order some LED replacement bulbs. I have the specs for everything on the boat except the anchor/deck combo fixture. My running lights are Aqua Signal 25's, but the mast fixture does not look like the AS25 combo I see online. It's the sam...

Re: Dinghy Fiberglass and Other Advice Please
Thanks for the advise, all! I spent about an hour with an orbital sander on the center seat today, and I am shocked at how good it looks. I am going to pick up some Citrustrip at HD and see how that does on the stern seat. I also have some Marine Tex inbound from Amazon and will give that a 1st try ...

Re: Dinghy Fiberglass and Other Advice Please
Thanks for the prompt reply, Paul. On the vast majority of the boat, it seems to me that only the gelcoat is gone. Not sure how many layers of glass were used in 1966, but not many It's possible that the first layer is partially damaged, but it's by no means deep, and the boat does not leak a drop. ...

Dinghy Fiberglass and Other Advice Please
Apologies in advance because it's not a Cape Dory dinghy, but there's so much knowledge on this board that I'm going to ask anyway: I have a 1966 Dyer Midget that has been serving it's many owners well for almost 50 years. She is still bone dry, but has a lot of missing gelcoat(see attached photo). ...

Re: 22D Mast Electrical Connector Plug
Yes, screws do come loose, and I have added that to the spring checklist. But your solution would require 6 splices on deck that then also need to be protected. I will take a flathead svrewdriver over a soldering iron any time.
Maybe I am missing something. Comments?

22D Mast Electrical Connector Plug
I thought instead of always being the one asking questions, today I'd offer a successful fix that worked: My mast electrical wiring was intermittent at best, with a very old and corroded three pole connector. I found the COLE HERSEE M115BP 4 pole replacement at Jamestown Distributors. It is very hig...

22D Engine Access Latch Thingamabob
Merilintu is finally in the water for the summer, and so begins a never-ending list of to-do's: There is a narrow wooden access panel on each side of the engine box. There's a fiddle on the bottom of it to keep it in place, and two black plastic(dacron or nylon?) pinch latches that are supposed to k...

Re: Mast Insert To Keep Lugs In
Mast Gate...that seems to be the key term I need. Thanks for the links! Sadly, I am headed to the yard tomorrow to haul the boat for winter. We're experiencing a gorgeous patch of almost summery weather, but I don't want to push my luck. It's been a great first season with the boat, and surprisingly...

Mast Insert To Keep Lugs In
Does anyone know of a mast insert that will keep the sail lugs from popping out when raising/lowering the main? West Marine sells a track clamp, but it would need to go above the gap in the track, and my entire main on the 22D fits below the gap when furled.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Re: Persistent Overheating Issue
Bill, My 22D was on the hard for 12 years+, and the 1GM started on the first try and ran fine for 20 minutes at 3200 rpm. On the 2nd start, and every one after, it overheated. My yard took the following steps, which did NOT fix the problem: 1. Impeller 2. Thermostat 3. Temperature Sensor I had picke...

Multimeter Test Results and A New Mystery
First, thanks to Russell for calling me out, as I obviously had the meter set wrong on the first go around. I tried again this morning and was able to measure the current load for each circuit from the battery. There is no stray load. I did learn that I have 2 different bulbs in my cabin lights: GE ...

Re: 22D DC Ground Question
Never underestimate the possibility that I may have no idea what I am doing! I thought it was unusual, too, and I am now questioning how I had the meter set. It is a really nice Fluke, and it's far more likely that I made a mistake than there being a problem with it. There is no battery charger or e...

Re: 22D DC Ground Question
Thanks for the replies. I don't feel so bad after seeing those photos. Mine is much better than that ;-) I put a multimeter on the battery and measured amperage. I do have a stray 3.5 amp load when the master battery switch is on. The boat "appears" almost untouched since it was built. The...

22D DC Ground Question
New owner with a 22D that came rigged with a panel for 2 batteries, but currently only has 1. There are 8 breakers, a power meter, and the 1/2/Both switch all on the panel. I have taken the panel off, but can only get it an inch or 2 away from the liner before getting serious resistance from the wir...
