22D Mast Electrical Connector Plug

Post by Merilintu »

I thought instead of always being the one asking questions, today I'd offer a successful
fix that worked: My mast electrical wiring was intermittent at best, with a very old
and corroded three pole connector. I found the COLE HERSEE M115BP 4 pole
replacement at Jamestown Distributors. It is very high quality with 4 brass screw
down connectors, of which I only used 3. All it took was a small flathead
screwdriver and 10 minutes later both the deck and mast lights were working for
the first time since I bought the boat. I also ran a few turns of electrical tape
in 3 spots for what should be a totally waterproof connection that will
be easy to remove come fall.

Hope this helps someone facing similar problems!
Roger

Sounds great, but the screws loosen. The following is what I install on mast wires. I have never had one fail.

Yes, screws do come loose, and I have added that to the spring checklist. But your solution would require 6 splices on deck that then also need to be protected. I will take a flathead svrewdriver over a soldering iron any time.

Maybe I am missing something. Comments?
