Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
This is funny. So I had to get my prop shaft and prop remanufactured. And the prop needed some fixing and cleaning up. Upon finishing this, the machinist handed me the parts, one of which was the prop, and he'd written my name on it LOL. I tried to take it off with several removers but alas, that's ...

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
It's a magnesium for fresh water. Was a zinc as the vessel had come from Nova Scotia.

Re: New member with a few Typhoon questions.
Agree in principle with Joe that perhaps starting with your current setup and sailing that for a while may be more informative than throwing chances at a rig before sailing the boat. These mast steps seem all to be rather different and may involve coping with your setup as best you can. With my Ty I...

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
Well my time in Albergland continues with my refit of the Alberg 30, however, time and again, I am reminded of the similarity of the Typhoon to this grand ole gal the 30. Same hull configuration, same teak appointments, just larger in every aspect. As with my Typhoon, Baggy Wrinkles, I am keeping th...

Re: Above the Salish Sea
Love the photographs. I was startled at the height of the tide level in that place!

Re: Above the Salish Sea
The impression of your photos reminds me of the comment a friend made years ago when CDs had just entered the market and she had one of Strauss playing throughout the house in our little French village, I turned and asked her which composer that was, and her response stuck with me hence these many y...

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
David, I came upon your Alberg blog yesterday and was reading. I hope you post more items. I'm filled with questions on many things so am "soaking up" data at this point. Thanks for your appreciation of the photos on the CD site.

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
This is a 3 photo conclusion to my gorgeous and reliable Typhoon, Baggy Wrinkles, which was sold to its new owner/keeper/sailor while at the Typhoon Nationals in Irvington, Virginia. Brad Perry purchased this gal and positioned her on Typhoon Alley where are kept about a dozen Typhoons. From here Ba...

Re: CD Typhoon in South Carolina
We're ending a several years of bliss with some sadness because Baggy Wrinkles is a Typhoon of some class and endearment. We will move on to another Alberg, a 30, the same designer created a bit larger design. We fell in love with the sturdy character of the Ty and found the Alberg suited us and our...

Re: 1974 Typhoon "Baggy Wrinkles" on the market!
Yes, dear ole Baggy Wrinkles is celebrating her final Memorial Day with us as her next Skipper has slapped money on the Barrel for her and is getting ready for the first date. We'll be heading to the RRYC for the Nationals next week and look forward to rubbing teak together one last time for us, at ...

Re: Teak rehab recommendations?
I did mine within reason, as the subsequent coats of varnish were very capable at helping to fill-in some of them. I note too that I used a matt-finish for my first iteration of varnish, i.e. for a couple of years. I recently redid my teak in Epifanes gloss. Gloss shows imperfections more than matt....

Re: Teak rehab recommendations?
I don't know if this helps you or not, but this is the assortment of teak I pulled off Baggy Wrinkles in January of 2013.... http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q763/Skeep575/009_zps6xfvxdix.jpg I did not have the incredible splitting that you show on yours. Mine was simply without any protection at...

Re: Replacing typhoon lines
Hmmm, I see. On my Ty, have as written, and they function perfectly. I guess size of genoa also plays into this. But on Baggy Wrinkles I'm pretty much set up "stock" and the measurements were spot-on for me. I took the stock measurements from the back of the manual where it lists all the d...
