Russell Handler's company was formed after the original Cape Dory ceased operations. He bought most of the power boat designs and only lasted a few years. Once you glue and clamp the strips, they should retain the shape. I have aways heard that you should use, air dried wood, instead of kiln dried for bending. That's a really early boat. Note the wooden bulkheads and wooden cockpit benches. Probably worth saving -- just at what cost. Hopefully you're handy and motivated.

Rent a pickup from U-Haul for the day and tow it yourself? Down and back to Irvington is easily done in one day (2.5 hrs each way). Or splurge and spend the night at the Tides Inn! Good luck and enjoy the new boat. We love ours.
