Again, Thanks to all for your compliments on her. It is now with much sorrow that I must see her off, but it's to a good Captain who really appreciates her. Thanks to All!

Steve, What a fantastic quote! Here's my personal version I will use for my Grandson: "There are many points on this Compass Rose. Locate the few that summon you and proceed with a passion, as they are meant for you and will be the ones that will give meaning to your life. And may you always fi...

Nautical Sayings

OK, I admit my memory is not the best in the world. We're giving our new grandson, Dylan, a beautiful wooden toy box that I'm finishing which looks like a treasure chest for his 1st Christmas. The intent is that it be a lifelong keepsake to pass on to his son. We're going to put a brass plaque on it...

CD 10 Owners Manual or Specifications?

Amazing how things play out. Because I can't sail anymore we have our Miss Dale, 1969 Alberg Typhoon Weekender on the market.....and yesterday my next door neighbor gives me a CD 10 (he knows my love of Cape Dory's). It will be a restoration project of the hull, teak, etc., which I can do to get rea...

Miss Dale Still Available

Lots of interest & contact, with the price seeming reasonable for her condition and all her ammenities, but no contract yet. Again, call, e-mail, or pm if you're genuinely interested in her.

Russell, Thank you for the complements. She is a beauty, which makes this all that much more difficult. The brochure calls it an Alberg Typhoon, build by Cape Dory. http://www.capedory.org/specs/brochures/TyphoonDaysailer.pdf Under the About Cape Dorys you will find that production began in 1967. Ye...

OJ, I'm trying really hard to not get irritated w/you lecturing me about correctness (when you write in ambiguity about early and mid 60's, sometime around 1968 when the CDSOA shows 1967, etc., and teak versus mahogany when I have a sales brochure that specifically states mahogany, etc.). Maybe when...

OJ, Thanks for the compliments. We pride ourselves on her condition. (1) I wasn't aware of any Alberg/Cape Dory Typhoons prior to 1967. CDSOA lists 1967 as the first production year. Love to hear/see more. (2) & (3) I have conceded she's a weekender. (4) Yeah, when I was talking unique, I was re...

Thanks Jim, we think so as well. Back to the original inquiry. Let's forget that the sales brochure calls it a daysailer and I'll call it a weekender so that's not the focus. I believe it was the next year, 1970, that Cape Dory removed all the mahogany, added scuppers and lazarettes, deck stepped ma...

Typhoon History

I was doing a little research in the registry about Typhoons and found that there is 1 listed as a 1967, 2 listed as 1968, 3 listed as 1969 (not including ours), and 23 listed as pre-1967. From all that I've read, Typhoons began being built in 1967, so what's up with that? Or is that some kind of de...

Had the same problem on my old CD 25. As indicated in other replies, I remove the bungs, screws, and then the coaming board. The stern end is smaller and easier to damage. I was able to very carefully drill 2 long holes from the underside thru to the crack and a 1/2" beyond for the long ss scre...
