New Lazy jack discovery
On a recent trip I had the slight misfortune to tear the starboard side of my lazy jacks at the mast end. They are hand braided lines that attach at the mast and bellow the boom. The port side remained in original shape attached to mast and boom). What started as yet "another repair headache&qu...

Cockpit shower
Melissa, I often do things backwards. You want a deck shower? I converted my deck shower to an anchor wash ! The PO of MINKE had a fresh (!) water anchor wash .This was easily plumped into the "pressure" water of the boat and attached to a fitting on the forward deck that accepted a regula...

Profurl users experience needed
I have a profurl (I think the model is a "classic" 42). While installing my Yankee I noticed a few things that were odd. I'm not sure if the yard which installed the the stay/furler this season messed up or not. 1. The black "puck" appears from the deck to be on the wire stay not...

Choice of screws
First off: I believe there is a difference between self tapping machine screws and self tapping sheet metal screws. I was referring to the former. I installed my boom vang with tapped fine machine screws. I am confident it would take a tremendous force to dislodge it. This season project is a hailer...

Machine Screw vs Tapping Screw
Machine Screw vs Tapping Screw--
Which holds stronger in an aluminum mast- a machine screw drilled and tapped into the mast or a tapping screw screwed into a drilled hole ?

Hailer or horn
For some reason hailers have more functions but cost less than horns. Hailers are plastic, horns are chrome plated. Suggestions please. Also I need to run a wire probably before I get the "thing" or else it ain't a goin in this year.

Convinced
You've all convinced me ! Any recommendations as to type/size/brand ? A twenty inch double horn seems to be a bit much but there's no point in putting up a tiny squeeker either. I better go wire the mast as least before they step it.

Horn
I am thinking of mounting a horn somewhere. (On a sailboat you say?) This is tied into my getting (?) a new radio with a hailing function. It would be nice to actually be able to blast the correct fog signal . The only place i can think of that would work is somewhere on the mast (near the spreaders...

Integration
Integrating your electronics is nice, but we all know that electronics fail, If you are going to have radar/chartplotter combinations . I like the following setup; radar /chartplotter in nav station, and chartplotter at helm. I prefer them not nema interconnected. That way I have two independent gps...

About Atlas
I had ATLAS cut me a piece of sheet silicon bronze to fit my bowpirt. It looks and works great. They even sent me the extra pieces they did not use out of the small sheet I purchased. They mailed it in an unbendable package and arrived without a dent. The dimension of silicon bronze that is mentione...
