Typhoon for sale
I tried to submit a post to the buy/sell board but couldn't get it to "submit." Anyway, it's a lovely boat and I am asking $4,500, on Deer Isle, Maine. Ask for Tom at (207) 348-1000 or ricksbook2010 [a ] gmail.com

Typhoon for sale
I am just not getting out on my Typhoon enough to justify keeping it. So I have decided to sell it. It is in Deer Isle, Maine, in decent shape, with sails, backup sails, an outboard, cushions for the internal bunks, etc. I am Tom at (207) 348-1000 or ricksbook2010 [at] gmail.com

WTB: Sail cover for Typhoon main
It doesn't have to be in great shape. I just feel guilty leaving my sail exposed in the Maine sun.

Re: A small drain question
Update:
--Plunger didn't do anything
--Got that little plastic snake-like thing for $2.49 at the Ace hardware. It worked beautifully. Pulled up a bunch of black muck, and finally a paint chip out of the cockpit that must have begun the stoppage. Cockpit now drains nicely.
Thanks again to you all.

Re: A small drain question
Again, I appreciate the help.
The small tips are so useful. I was thinking of a hanger, but it didn't occur to me to twist the end to avoid a puncture.
If that doesn't work, I'll bring a plunger down.
And if that doesn't work, I'll have a Guinness.

A small drain question
I noticed this morning that the starboard drain in the cockpit of my Typhoon ain't draining. I poked a screwdriver down but that didn't clear it out.
What should I try next?
Thanks,

Getting a roller furling jib
I've been persuaded that I need to put a roller furling jib on my Typhoon. I've never had one and know nothing about them. I have some questions: --What's the best way to go about it? Should I look for a furler/jib package, or best to buy separately? --Any brand names to recommend? --I see there are...

Re: Typhoon Weekender Correct for me?
I'm your age and weight. I have a hank-on jib. I've found the Typhoon very comfortable. But as people have noted, it gets a bit crowded in the cockpit with more than 2 people. But a Weekender has a bigger cockpit so maybe just fine for 3 or even 4.

Re: Northeast Move
Penobscot Bay is indeed a great sailing area. You need to get used to big fogs and bigger tides, but that's all part of the fun. Two recommendations: Drop by Hamilton Marine to pick up the cruising guides. Also, go to the book sales at local libraries (Camden has an especially nice library) and find...

So, no one has had a good experience with a boarding step, I take it?

Request for advice on installing & using boarding step
Hi, I am planning to put on boarding step or "swim step" on the transom of my Typhoon, to make it easier for anyone overboard (like me, singlehanding) to get back into the boat. Before I do, I'd welcome any any advice youse have on location. Primarly, how low should it go? It seems to me t...

Re: Question on fin keels
Oh yeah, no question that a fin keel in Penobscot Bay is an invitation to war with lobstermen. Remember, all that lobster gear is expensive. I always cringe when I read sailors write about getting tangled, having to cut a line off their prop. At the very least, try to tie the cut line together. But ...
