Re: CD28 Butterfly Hatch
I made a butterfly hatch for our CD330. I have been doing the prep work for the last couple weeks and just installed it today so I cannot give any advice on how well it works. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/qYzSfYKr6hE6OSzHS7D47ZzWl_UPOGxsprPz4jH778YFmLm8p_V6lfLEd8m4glu_niv6I7VkUhXWiCYGxjGzhiJUdy...

Re: Belowdecks linear drive installation on CD33
I had a short tiller arm made at a local machine shop for our CD330 to hook up a Cape Horn wind vane (clearly the installation is not complete). It should work fine for a below deck autopilot if you modify the attachment where the blocks are attached. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Znyr4huY75vrlA...

Re: Honda or Tohatsu outboard for dinghy
The Honda has a centrifugal clutch instead of a gear shift. I borrowed a friend’s and found this very awkward while coming along side the dock or our boat. When I slowed down the prop would stop spinning so I would lose steerage, it felt like I was giving it too much throttle to regain control. I’m ...

Re: Building a nesting tender for Fayaway
We built a Spindrift 10N for our 330. A couple thoughts that are worth thinking about as you build. We glassed in t-nuts in the stern section and used captive thumb screws from the bow. I really like not having the loose parts to deal with while I try to assemble the boat on deck. The other thing to...

Re: Anyone Have Cockpit Hatch
I have a Bomar aluminum hatch very similar to that one on my 330. I really like the access it gives me and would not hesitate to do it again. Mine is closer to square than the one you are looking at, I don’t remember the dimensions, however I can get down through it and I’m not small, 215 lbs. I pai...

Re: CD30 Bowsprit
Jeff, Our CD330 and the 36's have bowsprits a good bit wider than the 30. I have a friend with a CD30 who replaced his bowsprit with something very close to the factory original dimensions. As he sailed the boat more I think there is part of him that wishes he made it slightly different. For example...

Re: Planning for new Beta
Jean, I just tapped the GP03. I did a trial run and could not strip it out, so I am comfortable with it. T-nuts from the back would have been nice but I was not confident enough in my ability to position the bed while glassing it in. If I was putting in a new engine I think I would still make the be...

Re: Planning for new Beta
Jean,
I replaced the mild steel engine bed on our CD330 because I was uncomfortable with the rust. You can see some pictures on my website, https://www.banksandreedboatworks.com/w ... ctual-work
Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

I’ve got a tank out of my 330 that you may have. We would need to figure out how to get it up to you, I’m in SC. PM me if you are interested.

Re: Nesting dinghy build
We used an inexpensive pull saw from lowes. I did not want to use my good saws cutting the fiberglass. The thin blade worked great between the two bulkheads.

Re: Time to think about the wood.
For years I have done as John says. I’m a long time Epifanes user. Apply, sand, repeat. A little over a year ago I started using Epifanes WoodFinish glosss. It can be recoated with 72 hours without sanding. It can also be applied over their traditional varnish or be top coated with the traditional v...
