Jim, Let me add my compliments to your interior varnish job. I had always resisted anything other than oil but seeing how your cabin came out I may change my mind.
Is the cabin sole also the same varnish? If so, is it slippery at all?
Again, looks great

Re: Local Notes to Mariners-Upper Buzzards Bay
My wife and I were both seated at the time and were thrown about six inches in the air. Only injury was to my ego. The surveyor retained by the insurance company said we were fortunate to be in a Cape Dory......"they're built like tanks"

Local Notes to Mariners-Upper Buzzards Bay
Just a heads up to those of you sailing Buzzards Bay. The Dry Ledge #2 buoy (Red Nun) is off station. We where coming out of Wareham heading for Cataumet when we struck the ledge. We were about 25 feet south of the buoy and should have cleared the rocks but struck it doing about 5 knots, putting a g...

Re: Ty Standing Rigging Check & Replace Option
I'm in agreement with all those who support Rigging Only. Two days ago I dropped off my old lifelines for replacement...the old ones were showing discoloration under the vinyl coating and was advised to replace them. 24 hours later, I got an email saying my order was ready to be picked up. Adding to...

Re: CD Intrepid 9m
Hi Bill, I went from a CD25 to my Intrepid 9 Meter about five years ago and wondered the same thing. The previous owner was under the impression that Cape Dory had made such a name for themselves as builders of full keel boats that the fin keel models just didn't attract that much attention. I'm not...

Re: Intrepid 9M? advice requested.
Congratulations Dave,
I hope you'll be happy with the boat and should find it every bit as well built as the full keel Alberg designed Cape Dory models. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

Re: Intrepid 9M? advice requested.
Hi Dave, The headroom in the 9 Meter is good as long as you're under 6 feet, I'm 6' 2" and have to bend slightly. I doubt the Delta anchor would fit into the anchor locker since it's fairly shallow....maybe 10 inches deep and may not work for a windlass although I don't know that for sure. The ...

Re: repowering a cd28
Hi Brian, Two years ago I repowered with a Beta 16 in my Intrepid 9 Meter. You are welcome to the old shaft to size for your new one, it's 1 inch by 38 inches long. You'll have to cut it but that's easier than stretching one. It looks like you are in Dartmouth...I live in Sandwich but the boat is at...

Re: Cheaper weather info??
Adam, Three years ago, I did with a different model what you're thinking about doing. I mounted the sensors on the stern rail of my Intrepid 9 Meter with reasonable success. I would have preferred to mount the wind sensor on the mast but it worked fine as is. The only real problem comes when the sun...

Re: tohatsu 8 hp , four stroke
Ron, I used a Nissan 8hp, four stroke(same engine) in my CD25. It fit but the cover wouldn't close, I had to raise the engine cover by about 1 1/2 inches. Good luck.

I had an identical problem. Finally added "capedory.org" to the list of trusted sites and it's been working fine ever since.

I'm in the process of repowering my 1980 Intrepid 9 Meter and had to rip out the cabinet front to remove the original Volvo engine. All the old cabinetry was teak or teak plywood as I suspect is yours. Over the past 30 years it had taken on a slight redish patina and the new veneer was decidedly bro...
