CD 22 - Teak or mahogany interior
I have a 1984 CD 22 (# 161) that suffered some water damage from a leaking sink drain. I need to replace the veneer on the portside sink locker front, but can't tell if the plywood used for the interior is teak or mahogany, as it is stained reddish brown. Does anyone know what material Cape Dory used on 1984 CD 22 interiors?

I'm in the process of repowering my 1980 Intrepid 9 Meter and had to rip out the cabinet front to remove the original Volvo engine. All the old cabinetry was teak or teak plywood as I suspect is yours. Over the past 30 years it had taken on a slight redish patina and the new veneer was decidedly brown. I oiled the new teak veneer then went over it with a mahogany stain that came close to matching the old wood. It takes some experimenting so try this process on scrap pieces first..... Good luck

Teak of Mahogany veneer
I suspected as much, since there is no mahogany anywhere else on the boat, (everything else is teak except the varnished ash hull liner) but was puzzled by the reddish tint to the wood. I'll get some teak veneer and experiment.
Thanks for the tip!

Teak or mahogany interior
It would stand to reason that they used the same material on the CD 22 and CD 25, assuming they were built at the same factory, so it must be teak. Thanks for the reply. The teak and holly cabin sole needs some help too. Does anyone know if these are still available, or does it need to be custom made?

Teak and holly
The sole is veneer too. You will have to find a carpenter or figure out how to do it yourself.
I need to replace mine too. It is sound but looks bad. I am saving that job for last because I don't want to mess up a new one doing other projects.

Teak and holly
Actually the teak on the sole is fine, it's the holly that's delaminating and coming up in several places. I hope to be able to splice some new pieces in, then sand down and refinish everything, as I understand from viewing another thread here that it's a project to replace the whole thing.
