Something to check...

I'm sure you checked this but... Are you sure your topping lift is not holding up the boom? Or maybe your mainsail is just cut that way? Another thing to check is make sure your mast is straight and not raked forward at the top, which would cause the sail to to raise the boom in extreme cases. In an...

Outstanding job! She's definitely as close as you can get to a new boat now.

Good luck in your journey!

Oh, I see.

I thought you were simply cruising over there, I didn't realize you were trying to register it as a European boat.

It's interesting that they don't exclude it due to it's age. Good luck getting it resolved.

I have never heard of that before (having to show this data to someone). What difference does it make to anybody? I believe they let open dinghys sail in the English Channel. It would be interesting to know your circumstances and why you would have to prove this to someone. Is it to aquire insurance...

Re: sailing

We live on our CD31 and plan to go cruising next year. We originally thought of putting Melbourne on the list but was concerned about lack of deep water. I grew up in Palm Bay and remembering how shallow the Indian River was back then and assumed that Melbourne would be a poor place to sail. I gues...

Hi John, I'm thinking it was a 30 footer because it had slightly more overhang in the rear than my 28, but it still only had four portlights. (I just checked and the 31 and 32 have four also...man, Cape Dory just built every length there is!) That's great that you found a buyer, but sad also. Mirage...

Cape Dory Sailing Videos

Hi Folks, I got a new Flip video camera and decided to try it out this past Saturday here on the ICW in Melbourne, Florida. I set the autopilot and walked around the deck with the camera. Sorry about the unsteady video at times... I was watching for traffic and where I was walking, plus trying not t...

Unfortunately the video is too grainy to distinguish the name. I will post a link to the video in the Eye-candy section as well as a video I took aboard my CD28 Sanuye.

Anyone here own the CD28 or CD30 in ICW in Melbourne...

I was sailing Sanuye north on Saturday in the ICW just north of the Eau Gallie causeway in Melbourne, florida, at around 3:30pm, and using my new video camera when a nice looking (they all look nice, don't they?) CD28 or CD30 came by heading south on a beam reach. She had a brown bimini and a rolled...

Looks like a great idea. I think I'll get a couple myself. But I agree I don't want to have to try it. :)

I'm sure it's one of those things where if I buy them I'll never use them, but if i don't, at some point I'll wish I had them.

It does obviously have "some" impact, but only once you get up some speed. But the wind on the bow generally has much more of an impact on the boat turning than the rudder does at speeds which you would want to enter or exit a tight and crowded docking area, unless you have the luxury of a...
