ALL hands on a boat should be classified as CREW and informed as such when boarding..that solves alot of potential problems.
Never classify folks as guests or passengers.

Epifanes lifting
If the Epifanes is lifting after you applied it to teak it could be the natural oils in the teak that continue to leach out that is preventing a good bond. Try wiping done raw teak with acetone prior to varnishinh, may help.

AwlGrip and GelCoat Cracks
Cracks in the gelcoat are all part of the prep work BEFORE you apply the paint. Any irregularities will have to be repaired if you want good results..painting over won't get the job done in my opinion. Any voids, cracks, etc deeper than 1/16" should be opened up and filled with the proper fille...

The prep work is the most time consuming..and if you are having it done by others, it will be the main cost of the job if you are looking for a professional finish. If you have the time and interest to prep the boat yourself you...

Long Term Results with Brightside
I painted the cabin house and decks with brightside on our CD 28 about four years ago. The gloss retention and toughness has been excellent. I "rolled" the paint on, and the finished result was outstanding. You MUST sand between coats and use the appropriate thinner to get a good job. Reme...

Cape Dory 28 offshore work
Mary and I have sailed our CD 28, SARAH, for twelve years in Atlantic waters. From Stuart Fl to Charleston, Cape May to Block Island, Cuba and soforth. The boat is very seaworthy, safe and seakindly within the limits of 28 feet. Armond Parretta is the penultimate authority of ocean travel in a 28. W...
