CD 330 for sale
Hello, My Cape Dory which I've had since 2008 is up for sale: http://bit.ly/2HcVLzB She's equipped for cruising with Cape Horn steering, Watermaker (needs a little service), 335 watts of solar, water-cooled refrigeration, she was re-powered in 2008 with a Universal m25 XPB. There are no major proble...

Re: propeller size and clearance on a 33?
Hello, A long overdue reply to update that my transmission problems have been resolved! Ultimately it would seem that the combination of too much distance between cutlass bearing and prop / shaft too long, and flexible engine mounts was causing vibration that was hurting the transmissions. In Summer...

Re: replacing shower faucet
Thanks Jim.
None of these seem to say anything about NPT or BSP fittings, but some searching seems to say if you stick enough pipe dope on them they should just work (here's hoping)
I ordered this one in the end....

replacing shower faucet
Hi there, I'm planning on replacing my shower faucet on my CD 330, and plumbing is not my forte. I was wondering if anyone has replaced theirs and knows what size and type fittings they originally used on 33s? The one I have looks very much like this one with two faucets at 4 inch centers, my attemp...

Re: Heading South thoughts
I'm based in NYC and have done the East River a bunch of times, like the others said - don't worry about it. If you time it right it will be light through hell gate but ripping behind you at the 59th St bridge. It's good fun. Couple of other suggestions on the ICW.... Pick up a copy of Skipper Bob's...

Info on Grounding Plate Bold on CD 33
I had to replace one of the grounding plate bolts on my 330, but could only find a steel one at the time (the originals are copper I think.) Foolishly, I did not write down the specs on this bolt and I need to get a replacement as I am going to put the boat back in the water in a few weeks. (It is i...

Re: Cost of rudder repair
Glad it worked out for you Rit. I'm the sucker who paid for the mould. They didn't have one for the '33 when I called them in Summer 2010 so I they made the mould from my old rudder. So, while I'm sure they were all the same in the first place, you now have a clone of my rudder! And thanks for your ...

Re: Cost of rudder repair
Ouch, sorry to hear that. I had a hard grounding - in mud - once. That was a miserable experience. I can only imagine what it would be like on a reef. Although, at least your rudder bought it out on the water - actually going somewhere - not at the dock because the wrong &^%& wire was attach...

Re: Cost of rudder repair
Hi... > Did Foss use the Spartan male shoe fitting or did they fab something on their own? I honestly don't recall very well, I think Foss made a new shoe. > How was the machine keyway on the post? Everything looked good when I inspected it/had my yard look at it. > Besides the rudder, what else did...

Re: Cost of rudder repair
Hi Rit,
Think it took two weeks, and that included making the mold which they won't have to do again.

Re: Cost of rudder repair
I got mine from Foss Foam in the end.
It's been great. Put almost 2,000 miles on it. No problems at all. They have the mold for the 33 rudder now.

Thanks again, That's very clear. ZF sent two technicians out to me today. They checked the shifting on the gear, and then with the cable. They said the shifting distances were ok. Reverse was a little close to spec, but forward was fine. They didn't really know what might be causing the problem, but...
