Re: CD25
I need to replace the traveler system on my cd25 as the car and block are hopelessly broken. Has anyone done this and what system did you use that will fit into the space between the motor well cover and the rear of the cockpit? Greg; I replaced the traveler on my CD-25. I had to go with the 3/4&qu...

Re: I can measure mine
If it's not too much trouble, Ben, I would be much more comfortable with the actual measurements, rather than trying to extrapolate from the CD25D. I would really appreciate it.Ben Coombs wrote:I can measure mine and let you know...

Oh, sheet!
I need sheets... jib, genoa, and main. The problem is, I don't know what lengths I need for a CD25, and I can't find any guidance in the archives. If anyone knows how much rope I need to buy, please let me know. This is just about the very final task in the reconstruction of S/V Pearl. Thanks for yo...

There are also State regulations which apply. I found the Florida regulations here: http://www.law.ufl.edu/conservation/pdf ... tation.pdf
and here: http://www.dep.state.fl.us/cleanmarina/ ... er_faq.htm
What a load of crap! Pun intended.

Re: preventing overboard discharge
My point in my earlier post was to clarify that there is no PLUMBING requirement for a Y-valve as opposed to an ordinary Y fitting. It is just another means of complying with the regulation that requires a means of preventing overboard discharge of holding-tank contents. Yes. You are correct. I hav...

Hi Russell; I'm not an attorney, but I assume overboard discharge must be disabled, regardless of the source (head, or tank), because the regulations do not differentiate between sources. One of the controlling Federal regulations is 33 CFR 159.7, which is the Coast Guard regulation to enforce the E...

Troy; Like your system, all waste from my head goes to my holding tank. Where it goes from there (overboard vs. pumpout) could functionally be accomplished with a Y fitting, as you describe. Legally , however, I don't believe it is adequate because within 3 miles of the coast, any overboard dump of ...

John; I just read the information in the link you provided. I wish I had seen this sooner. It seems I should (again) re-think my venting, since my tank does have two vents. I have joined these vents as one larger vent. This article makes me think I should instead use them independently for cross-ven...

Thanks for the clarification, John. I really don't see the need for it to be horizontal. If it IS to be horizontal, I can undestand the need to avoid sags and curves. Sags can accumulate water/sewage and cause blockage. Curves will create a turbulent rather than laminar flow of air. Still, I see no ...

Re: Vent Line
If the vent line "should" be horizontal and, if not possible, have no more than a 45 degree rise I am seeing a problem. Why do you say this? This isn't something I have heard or read before. Why 'should' it be horizontal? Since I'm on the topic of vents, here is another question. I know t...

You are very astute, Ben. Yes, because of the curvature of the hull, I did cut away a triangular section of the hull liner to allow me to set the tank deeper at the forward lower corner. The triangular section is slightly larger than it needed to be, so the edges of the liner would not abrade the ta...

You know, John, what you are contemplating is an interesting idea, and not one I had considered. I like your thinking. I think it will take a Y valve to select tank inflow vs. outflow. If you want both overboard discharge and deck pumpout, that will require another Y valve. If that is your plan, it ...
