We replaced the coaming boards on Cricket a few years ago. We used South Shore Boatworks in Halifax Ma. (781)-293-2293. Bob Fuller is the craftsman and he used to work on Cape Dories. We removed one of the cracked coaming boards and he used that as a template to build us new ones. As I recall it too...

We also designed our name and hailing port on our computer. We brought our printout to a company called FASTSIGNS. They were able to enlarge the image to fit the transom in vinyl letters (based on the dimensions we provided). The only tricky part was trying to center it on the transom. My avatar is ...

This project was on my spring list last year. I ended up rebuilding the entire head....if I can do it anyone can. Graco does provide a pretty detailed diagram with the rebuilding kit to make re-installation easy. After re-building we didn't have any problems.

I refinished the inside of "Cricket" as a winter project 2 years ago. I applied 3 coats of Epiphanes High Gloss then 3 coats of the rubbed effect varnish and it looks great. I also removed everything I could from the boat so I could work in a warmer environment. Good luck with your project.
