The Cape Dory Board

I am scraping a recently purchased Typhoon 19 for bottom paint and was surprised to find metal sides on the rudder, can any one educate me on the Ty 19 rudder construction and prep for the rudder for bottom paint?

One more idea, on my CD33 I use a water based sealer and a two part topcoat called BASIC. It is used on gym and commercial wood floors. It is applied with a paint pad, looks like milk when you first apply it and does have a nice gloss. I found it at CrossCut (a wood store) in Portland, OR.

I am placing the rub rail on a newly purchased Typhoon. I wanted to add metal half round on the outboard rail like what I have on my CD 33 but dont know if it is bronze or brass. I can find brass half round but no bronze from retailers so I am assuming it probobly brass.
Any one know?
