I am placing the rub rail on a newly purchased Typhoon. I wanted to add metal half round on the outboard rail like what I have on my CD 33 but dont know if it is bronze or brass. I can find brass half round but no bronze from retailers so I am assuming it probobly brass.
Any one know?
Brent

Half Round Metal On Rub Rail
Brent,
Some years back, I had a Ty WE that the PO put brass half round on the rub rails. What a pain in the six that was.
Yes, it was brass. If you looked at it cross eyed, it tarnished. It was next to impossible to keep it looking decent. I had to mask it and spray lacquer on it to try to keep it from tarnishing. Salt water and salt air was a killer.
Bronze will develope a patina in time. Brass just turns ugly and then pits up. Out of a combo of disgust and exasperation, I finally gave it the deep six.
I was much happier with the traditional look of teak. But that's my taste.
Good luck,
O J
