Rowboat trailer
Does anyone still manufacture small rowboat trailers? I have a 9'6" Compass Skiff to haul. I have an old Sears rowboat trailer, but rust has taken it over and it's sinking into my back yard.

Outboard: SMALL!!!
I have always enjoyed rowing, but because of a shoulder injury, it has become painful to row for a distance or against a chop. So, reluctantly, I have decided to put a small (the smallest possible) outboard on my Walker Bay 8. Questions: Does anyone make 1 1/2 h.p. outboards any more and is it worth...

Thanks, Gabbiano. My boat takes the wheel version, though.

Autohelm 4000 repair
I have two problems with my Autohelm 4000. First, the wheel steering hesitates to disengage. Second, a fairly large piece of hardware is floating around the inside of the control unit. I've taken the unit apart and cannot see where the piece detached itself. Anybody have an idea about where or wheth...

Re: Mooring installer in Portland, Maine
The harbormaster has given me a list of about twenty eligible companies. I could throw a dart at the list, but I'd feel better with a recommendation.

Mooring installer in Portland, Maine
Next week I am going to put my new Cape Dory 30, "Flying Bugster II," (long story) in the water for the first time, and I want to have a mooring ready for it. I have permission from the Portland harbormaster to install a mooring and would appreciate hearing from anyone who can recommend so...

Looking for diesel advice
I just bought a CD 30 with a 2005 Beta 20 hp diesel engine. I once lived with an Atomic 4 and by necessity learned all . . . and I mean ALL . . . about its workings. But I am completely new to diesels and would love to draw on the wisdom of this board. What do I need to do to get the engine ready fo...

Maine Boatbuilders Show
The calendar, if not the thermometer, says that spring begins in two days. Are any Cape Dorians planning to go to the Maine Boatbuilders Show in Portland this weekend? If you are in the building on Friday or Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00, stop by the Compass Project booth to say hello. I have owned two ...

Re: towing walker bay 8
The new oarlocks were easy to install using a Forstner drill bit. http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-a-forstner-bit.htm In fact there is a reinforced area at the appropriate distance back from the bow seat in which to install the oarlocks. A pair of Walker Bay oarlocks is available from Inflatable Boat...

Re: towing walker bay 8
I've had a Walker Bay 8 for around fourteen years. It rows well when I'm in it alone, but it sinks at the stern when carrying more than one person. Last summer I added oarlocks forward so that I could row from the bow seat with two people aboard. Adding that second set of oarlocks has made all the d...
