FS: 1974 Typhoon, $6,000

NOTE: SOLD! Thank you all! She has a good home now, and will be doing what she was built to do - sail! Hello all - thought I'd give this one more try. She's been in storage since this was posted last in mid-to-late 2011. I'm trying to find a way to post the pics from my Google acct, but they don't w...

way ahead of you on that...

All in all, there was only a small pool on the floor of the cabin, perhaps only a two or three ounces at most. After using baking soda to neutralize the acid, I noticed there was a small amount of liquid in the bilge. So, I put a little baking soda on the tip of an oar, dipped it in the bilge, and.....

battery advice?

My deep-cycle battery tipped over, went unnoticed for a few days, and an unknown amount of the acid drained out. It was laying about 30 degrees from upside down, so it's possible most of the acid drained out. So, I read on battery maintenance websites that it says to never add more acid to a battery...

Use a mini-Melita

I the past, I've used those one-cup Melita drip filters that sits neatly on top of a large coffee mug. One heaping tablespoon of grounds, fill the filter twice with boiling hot water, and let it drip. Of course, for a day-sailor like me, the best way is to brew your coffee before you leave shore, an...

She speaks to me...

Welcome to the club, Kevin! I love my Ty more than any other saiboat I've owned or sailed. She really is a sweet little lady! Where do I start?... Her timeless figure and lines? Her gentle and forgiving personality? Her sophisticated simplicity? The way she makes my heart flutter every time I lay ey...

Marelon valves

I've never used Marelon, but I read on some other sailor discussions that they have a reputation for breaking. Specifically, the handle breaks off, which means the whole thing becomes pretty useless. Otherwise they seem to be fine. I put Spartans on my Ty. However, the Spartans don't fit well into t...

testing the waters - Typhoon maybe FS

We may be relocating to New Zealand either for a few years or permanently, and I'm considering what to do with my Ty. We can leave her in the care of a friend, and then we'd have something to sail when we come back to the US for visits, or when/ if we move back permanently. Or, we can sell her and p...

Went with a Road King

Sooo, long story short - I bought the Road King trailer from the Ocala, FL manufacturing plant, and it was delivered last week. It seems to be a fine trailer, but I had to build my own mast support, since the manufacturer blew the order and wanted to charge me an extra $500 to go back and do it righ...
