It used to be 45 minutes to the marina on Lake Champlain; starting next summer it's going to be 5.5 hours to the cottage (Boothbay Harbor), and then 10 minutes to the mooring from there.

YUP - it worked fine.... I also used a small trickle charger solar panel that has a blocking diode to keep the battery topped off... Dick, Any updates to share on your Minn Kota experience? I just pulled the Tohatsu 3.5 off of Peanut for repair/storage, and am seriously considering trading it for a Minn Kota 50. The boat is going to be moved to our place in Maine, and with infrequent use the 4 cycle is going to be a pain to maint...

Although I don't see how I can attach the forestay with only 6' of line when the mast is horizontal. Since the masthead is forward when horizontal, there should be enough slack as you raise it.
