what about those of us without Auto pilot?

Cathy, I assume your technique only works with autopilot...? I have always hove-to thinking there is no other way!

Minor difference in data

The CDSOA listing has Triad in CT, where this Triad is in Raleigh... I did call them a few months ago and got them on a Raleigh number.

I'm bracing for bad news...

OK folks, I went to run up my Westerbeke 13 that had been in storage. I removed the raw water intake hose at the impeller input, and noticed the water sitting in the pump cavity was anti-freeze-colored. Morveren had been on the hard all winter, and it's possible the non-antifreeze water circuit had ...

I woulda done the same

35 knots is just too much for Morveren under full sail. 2 reefs is perfect, and she will sail herself upwind hands off the tiller.

One thing i don't get though: you were *disappointed* at 5.5 knts upwind with 2 reefs in a gale???? I'd be ecstatic!

I'd go for the "few days" without worry

As I recall, the slinger washer occupies the space between the seal for the water pump and that for the engine pump drive gear. I'm not sure that that piece of rubber is for, other than to sling any water away from approaching the oil seal.

I'm almost certain...

We have the same original traveler with those evil pin-stops, having had intimate knowledge of them, you know, trying to beat up against a strong headwind to get home in time for work. After looking at your system again i realized that I will probably not need additional turning blocks after all, ju...

WOW

I never thought of refitting the existing car - I thought I would have to go with a whole new traveler rail and car - I am *so* doing this mod! I might need a set of turning blocks added to the parts list - for the rooftop traveller...

I'm hoping these will work for me

I installed the item Larry shows for the anchor, steaming, deck, and this little baby for the new coax I ran up the mast:

We went with 12

Judy and I used AWG 12. Even though its an LED lamp, i figured the additional decrease in resistance would equate to more efficiency

These are great

Much like the type of sailing/gunkholing on the Pamlico Sound area. Great way to endure the on-the-hard time.
