The rest of the time it is down in the tow position, which does not alter the issues you raised. If your friend is operating his boat with it up he is operating in...

I should have mentioned, on the other side of me in the background is a Bristol 43.3 with her dinghy tow in the tow position. Kind of an interesting shot. Just noticed when I posted it!

Dinghy tow

We found early there is no silver bullet in this area. After a couple of years observing some friends of ours who had the dinghy tow system (www.dinghy-tow.com) (they have had it 16 years), we bought one. We have had it on Pegasus for about two years now and it has worked perfectly. When towing we d...

There are a number of us in the Corpus Area.

Fuel usage

I cannot give you any definitive numbers, but I sail the boat weekly on average (south Texas) and fill my 20 gallon tank twice per YEAR! It is a 15 minute motor from dock to sail.

I dont know what is more interesting that there is such a thing as a knife tack or that they practice it and have spares onboard just in case.

They think of everything...well almost lol

I suspected it was a weekender vice daysailer. Again, I am new to Tys.

I looked at the NADA numbers but they seemed off (low) from the other sites I researched.

Thank you for your input, more the better.

Doldrums

Bob, I have crossed the gulf a number of times. In most of the experiences I found that 200 nm away from the coast there was no or very little wind at all! I think your track was ideal for anyone considering doing "the" crossing. I too was amazed at the "junk" out there. I have m...
