If you join the Sarasota Sailing Squadron (Family membership $340/yr) you can purchase a mooring for around $1500. There are no mooring fees from the squadron. If you want you can rent one from an owner for around $200 yr. You can also dock your boat 3 days a month for free, use the hoist(under 6000...

We just replaced the standing rigging on our 25D. We planned on doing it ourselves, but after having a rigger who has completed the Whitby round the world race tell us that swages are the way to go(and cheaper too) we hired a rigger to do it for us. Call Greg Knightson at Quantum Sails at 941-365-72...

Thanks John. That's a good idea except, unfortunately, it is the bottom nut threads that are stripped. I could probably take the bottom washer out to catch the threads, but if I have to take the engine mount off anyway I probably should replace it. I am thinking that they are probably the originals,...

Raising Engine Mount
We had a loose engine mount on the rear starboard side on our 25D. The threads on the post were stripped so I shimmed the mount up about an 1/8" to catch the threads & then tightened it down. It seems to be pretty tight now. Have I screwed up the engine alignment by doing this?

Mast Pumping
Little Bit, We had the same issue with our 25D. We had a rigger inspect the rigging(his name is Greg Knightson of Quantum Sails and he says he weighs in at an 1/8th of a ton! He had no problem climbing the mast with an ATN chair) . He said the aft lower shrouds were too tight & the forward lower...

Our's sounds like the African Queen! Anyway, we always idle up over 1000 rpm's after she kicks over. We also keep the rpm's over 1000 if we are going to be idling more than a couple of minutes(like when waiting for a bridge opening). I believe you live nearby in Tampa. We have an 1983 25D in Sarasot...

Deck/Steaming Light removal on a 25D
Does anyone know how to remove the deck/steaming light from the mast of a 25D? There are no visible screws or rivets. I am hoping to remove the light and get access to the "slapping" wires in the mast & either foam them in or drop styrofoam peanuts down from there & also under the ...

How to make my 25D longer!
Hi, We want to run the Tampa Bay to Isla Majeres, Mexico race on April 27, 2007. Unfortunately, we have been informed that we have to have an overall length of at least 28 feet. We are thinking of adding a monitor windvane. Does anyone know if that would or could add the additional 3' we need to race?

Roller Furling
Thanks for your comments. We're going to trade the 150 genny in on a new 110 or 120. John, I believe I read that you owned a 25D at one time, did you have a roller furler on yours? Also, does anyone have any experience with the ATN gale sail (storm jib) that sleeves over the roller furler? I am conc...

Hi, We have recently purchased a 1983 25D "Yolo" Hull #91. We have just returned from a sailing expedition with John & Amanda Neal on Mahina Tiare III on the North Sea from Scotland to Sweden. Now, we are excited about getting our boat ready to sail to Mexico, Central America, and who ...
