Ty Motor
Just bought a 4HP Tohatsu for our Weekender and am happy with it. Light enough to tilt up, internal fuel tank and enough power to push the boat when I need it..

Ty Mast
Hi, how difficult is it to unstep the Ty mast? We acquired our '78 Weekender in May with the mast up. Got to install protectors on the ends of the spreaders to preserve our genoa and thought I'd put a Windex on as well. Can it be done while on the water or do I wait until the end of the season? This...

Thanks
Thanks. Yes, we did talk about conditions that we sail in. Both choices have one reef, slugs, telltales, downhaul, cunningham, and standard battens. One uses aluminum reinforcement at the headboard, tack and clew are reinforced. Thanks again.

Opinions on a new Mainsail
Looking for a new mainsail for our Typhoon Weekender and the quotes cover a wide range. Is a 4.93 oz Dacron from Lee Sails worth a $100 more than a 4.0 Dacron from Rolly Tasker Sails?
This is our first sailboat and our first sail and we welcome all opinions. Thanks.

I know the feeling, but since the boat was practically given to us, we feel we have a running start. BTW, lived in Plymouth MA for 3 years before moving to LI

Typhoon Weekender Mainsail etc
Took my first sailing lesson on Saturday in my '78 Typhoon Weekender and had a ball! My instructor spent considerable time going over the boat and pointed out all the stuff I need to replace. Need a new mainsail - looked at previous posting for resources, but realize I don't know what I don't know a...

Hull Maintenance
Our Typhoon has been sitting in the yard for a couple of years or so and appears to have been sideswiped by the bottom paint of another boat. What can I use to remove the smudges of blue paint from my hull? Thanks.

Tyhpoon Standing Rigging
Thanks for the help on the electrical question - some good advice. How do I adjust my standing rigging at the beginning of the season? Do I do it while still on the hard? Can I do it without a Loos gauge? I've got solid tube turnbuckles, should I change them out for SS or bronze? Thanks.

Typhoon Electrical System
Just bought our first sailboat - a 1978 Typhoon Weekender. I'm interested in restoring the electrical system - the rear of the panel is all rusted. Do I need to run new wires to the stern and bow fixtures or will in-line splices work? Any suggestions on buying a new panel or battery requirements. Th...
