Venture Compass

Well, I have finally gotten a picture of the compass and am going to try to post it now. I was motivated by the lack of activity on the board so here goes........ Let's see if I can get this one right....... I pulled the old compass and it was original equipment. The serial number indicated 1977. Gi...

Camping Alternative

Hi Dan. I have an old Kenyon pressure alcohol stove that hasn't been used in at least about 9 years. When I was gearing up to bring the boat north I decided I didn't want to mess with it. I went with a camping stove (Trangia 25). I got the kit which included wind shields that attach together, the bu...

Survey

Hi Sea Hunt. Just to throw something else out there. What about the possibility of starting with the survey? You could have the surveyor take extra pictures of the boat, email everything to you and it might cost you less than the trip. Then if the survey comes back okay you can move forward. If the ...

Thanks................

Thanks for the advice. Continuing with the bulkhead seems to make the most sense. I think I'll pull the compass this weekend and get a quote on a rebuild. Then I'll have to decide whether to fix or buy new. I like the idea of two compasses. Something else to think about............................. ...

Finding your pace and path

Sea Hunt. About 5 years ago I decided I wanted to get back into sailing after a MANY year hiatus. I decided that I wanted to get a trailer sailboat, avoid the costs of storage, and explore different bodies of water. So I started looking at boats and then decided I would do a try run. Get up, stall f...

New Compass for a CD28 Sail

Hi All. Well, I finally have a question that isn’t already answered in the archives. Been sailing for a few years but this is my first boat. I gotta say I love the CD’s. Barefoot (my CD 28) is up here in Boston waiting for launch day. When I bought my boat last year, she was on the hard with the mas...

CD 28 Int

Hi Nate. I spent quite a bit of time looking at boats around New England before I found my CD28 this summer. I walked from the first boat I had under agreement because of the survey. The surveyor was great and he caught things I could have easily missed. For me a survey was a must. If you are intere...

Greetings

Hi All. Well, I finally did it. I finally registered and am posting my first message on this board. Okay, so maybe I don’t have a boat yet, but I’m looking……. Does that count? After sailing 26 to 39 footers for four years with a local club and taking all sorts of exams with the ASA, I am looking to ...
