Wanderlust heading west
We have sold Wanderlust our CD30MKII and she is on a truck heading to Bellingham, WA. Her new owner is Scott Schuttner. It will be great to have another cd on the west coast. The Carolinas fleet has been like family and I have missed everyone greatly. Keaton has grown up with the fleet and I have be...

Veturing North
I made this passage last February and went via the intercoastal. Once you are clear of Norfolk, which is an adventure in itself, there is great opportunity to sail and plenty to keep you busy should you choose to sightsee. Plan one day Beaufort to Belhaven, one long day Belhaven to Coinjock; one day...

Free bimini
I have an unused toast (light brown) colored bimini that came with my 30MKII. My canvas is green, so I will not be using it. It has two pockets for the bows and a window at the backstay. I am going to pitch it if no one wants it, as I am tired of moving it. It is in perfect shape.

CPES
I can't agree with Andy enough about the merits of the Smith CPES epoxy. It works great, doesn't blush, and is easy to deal with. I have used it on my exterior and interior now and can't say enough good about it. Steve from Star distributing is also great to work with---just don't skimp on getting e...

Air-X windgenerator
I have airair x that we installed last year. I have had absolutely no issues with it at all and it works great. I purchased mine through a solar power supplier in AZ whose name is mystifing me at this hour and the tower through West because it ended up being cheaper. It was the exact same unit as We...

Epoxy source
The epoxy that I used was CPES (Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer)from Star Distributing from http://www.star-distributing.com They are big fans of Bristol finish for the top coat which for me personally was a disaster but the CPES is great stuff! Make sure you purchase the right temperature formula.It...

using clear penetrating epoxy with varnish
I am in the process of redoing all of my woodwork outside and varnishing the interior for the first time after getting tired of the cetol orange and the black fungus spots that keep coming after redoing the exterior woodwork. I have done the toe rail using the epoxy first and then 4 coats of captain...

Thanks
Ben and Cathy: Ben, Thanks for your input. Even though the models are different a lot of the issues will be the same. My father is going to help me with the install and I think we are in good shape on the battery issue. I generally single hand my boat with my son who is now 5, and I think the windla...

Windlass on 30MKII
I am getting ready to install Lewmar horizontal windlass with foot switches and a remote in the stern and washdown pump on Wanderlust. We have a lot of pictures in the archives of installs on CD36's, but I have not seen any of on a MKII. If anyone has a MKII with a windlass or has installed one I wo...

Brown filter
I also use the brown racor filter which I believe is 2 microns. After my fuel filter issues previously reported on at length on the Belhaven trip, I would prefer that filter to get gunked up first rather than the two smaller secondary filters. I change my primary filter now every 20 hours or so, and...

Buy it
I have hull 17 and although I had originally planned to buy a larger boat it has been a wonderful boat. It has a lot more room than the other CD's in the 30-33 range and sails well. I have lived aboard very comfortably and an able to singlehand it well. If the MKII you are considering is mechanicall...

I agree with those who think that the increasing spam is becoming a real problem. This was a conversation that we had at our Carolina's get together last weekend. My sugesstion was that in order to post you should have to be a registered user. If a spammer has to take the time to create a user id th...

same problem
I have the same issue on my CD30MKII. My entire engine pan would fill with water and when the boat heeled over it would run on the cabin sole. Before I figured out the problem, I ended up putting a drain in the bottom of my engine pan with a tube that drains to the bilge. I keep it plugged now, but ...

Great marine stripper
I am in the process of removing Cetol and applying CPES and varnish. I am using a great stripper called Aqua-Strip by back to nature products that is available through www.star-distributing.com. It goes on in a thick gel, works great, and is safe on your gel coat. To remove the cetol/varnish you lig...
